Lincoln Town Car

Lincoln Town Car is a full-size, rear-wheel drive luxury sedan sold by Ford's upscale Lincoln brand. The Town Car features a V8 engine and large exterior and interior dimensions.

The Town Car is, despite recently declining sales numbers, one of the best selling American luxury cars. It also serves as America's most used limousine and chauffeured car. While relatively affordable when compared to European flagship luxury sedans, the Town Car is currently the most expensive American luxury sedan (according to base MSRP) with prices ranging from $45,815 for a basic Signature Series to $54,140 for a top-of-the-line Signature L Series. The Town Car has been available featuring ballistic protection since 2003 with prices starting at $144,995.

In 2006, Ford considered ending production of Lincoln's largest model after the planned closing of the Wixom Assembly Plant in Wixom, Michigan in 2007 causing near panic, of a transportation nature, on Wall Street. Ford ultimately decided to keep the model and move assembly to the St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada where the Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis, which also use the Ford Panther platform, are currently built. The Town Car's manufacture resumed at its new location in late 2007.[6] The first Canadian-built Town Car rolled off the assembly line on January 10, 2008. The Town Car is currently the largest Canadian-made car, measuring nearly 18 feet (5.49 m) in length for a standard Town Car and 18+1⁄2 ft (5.64 m) for an L Edition.

Consumer Guide cites the vehicle's strengths as comfort, materials, and ride quality, with weaknesses cited as acceleration and handling. The Town Car is one of the safest cars available on the North American market.

Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac CTS-V is a model in Cadillac's V-Series line of high performance vehicles, introduced in 2004. The CTS-V is currently in use in the Speed World Challenge GT series, with racing cars built and run by Pratt & Miller.

A supercharged 6.2 liter LSA V-8, based on the LS9 V-8 from the recently released Corvette ZR1, is the powerplant in the 2009 CTS-V. It produces 556 hp (415 kW) and 551 lb·ft (747 N·m) of torque. The LSA engine has a bore and stroke of 4.06 x 3.62 inches (103.25 x 92.0 mm).[5] There are manual and automatic transmission choices, a six speed transmission with a short-throw shifter and dual clutch surface flywheel, or a paddle shift conventional (planetary gearing and torque converter-based) automatic six speed. There will also be LED flash tracers to tell the driver when to shift. For the first time, Cadillac will offer 14-way adjustable performance Recaro seats. To improve the handling and comfort, the 2009 CTS-V uses Delphi Corporation’s MagneRide technology. The dampers, filled with magnetorheological fluid, are adjusted based on sensor readings that happen at 1ms intervals. The power-to-weight ratio of the CTS-V is similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, which was labeled as the fastest sedan that Edmunds.com has ever tested.

The 2009 CTS-V has a base price of US$59,995, and is available for purchase as of November 1 2008.

Lincoln MKS

Lincoln MKS is a full-size luxury sedan from the Lincoln division of the Ford Motor Company. The MKS first appeared in concept form at the North American International Auto Show in January 2006 with the production version, a 2009 model, appearing later at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2007. The MKS began production in May 2008 with sales beginning a month later. The Lincoln MKS continues Lincoln's three-letter nomenclature for new models, preceded by the MKZ and MKX. The purpose of the new nomenclature was to mimic the alphanumeric naming schemes used by other luxury automakers like Lexus and Acura. Interestingly, the MKS is the first Lincoln to use a three-letter name consistently in its development from concept to production (the MKZ's name was changed from Zephyr after its first model year while the MKX was called Aviator when it was still a concept).

The MKS is based on Ford's D3 platform, which is shared with the current Ford Taurus and other vehicles. The car is front-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive. The MKS is powered by a 3.7 L Duratec V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. An optional EcoBoost 3.5 L twin-turbo, direct injection V6 is planned. The MKS can seat up to five people. The MKS debuted with a base MSRP of $38,465 USD, ranging up to $48,835 USD when fully optioned. The Lincoln MKS is built at Ford's Chicago Assembly plant in Chicago, Illinois.

Hyundai Genesis

Hyundai Genesis is a rear-wheel drive, full-size car introduced initially as a concept car in the 2007 New York International Auto Show.

Hyundai has introduced the vehicle worldwide, known internally as the BH model, and will initially market the Genesis as a "premium sports sedan" in one body style with three possible engines. The Genesis will at least not initially be introduced to Europe. A coupe version was introduced at the 2008 New York International Auto Show and will join the sedan at a later date.

Hyundai targets 55,000 sales of the Genesis in 2008 (35,000 in Korea and another 20,000 overseas) and 45,000 in 2009,[3] with sales goals of 50,000 per year in the United States. According to the Hyundai Chairman and CEO Chung Mong-koo, the Genesis is Hyundai's first entry into the European dominated luxury arena.

According to Hyundai Vice Chairman Kim Dong-jin, the name Genesis is a reflection that the vehicle is the first of many premium cars the company will introduce. Edmunds.com gave the car 9.5 out of 10 points, stating that it features a cabin comparable to a top-of-the-line Lexus, but pointed to lacking "brand cachet" as the main problem. The Hyundai Genesis was named the 2009 North American Car of the Year.

The 2008 CTS was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show. It borrows styling cues from the Cadillac Sixteen concept car, and went on sale in late August, 2007.

Audi A4 Avant Wagon

The new Audi A4 Avant Wagon will be launched on the European market this spring, with the rest of world following shortly. Initial engine choices include the basic 160 HP 1.8 TFSI and 265 HP 3.2 V6 FSI petrol units and the 143 / 170 HP 2.0 TDI and 240 HP 3.0 TDI turbo diesel units.

In a few weeks, the A4 Avant will follow: The most successful premium station wagon of its class offers, along with excellent drivability and uncompromising quality, a higher utility value for sports and recreation. This vehicle combines elegance and intelligent functionality.

The Audi A4 Avant is extending its lead. Based on the same technology layout as the sedan, the newly developed five-link front axle has been shifted farther forward. This ensures that the axle loads are perfectly distributed, thereby guaranteeing the highest precision and agility when it comes to handling. The Avant therefore also offers a new and fascinating driving experience similar to the one that led media experts to pronounce the sedan the best automobile in the midsize range.

Audi is launching the A4 Avant with five engine types to begin with: two gasoline engines and three diesel engines. These engines offer superior performance while reducing fuel consumption by more than 14 percent compared to the previous model – proof of Audi’s successful efficiency strategy.

Audi’s high technological competence is also expressed in the broadly diversified range of powertrains and in its numerous sport and comfort technologies – many of which originate directly from the premium class.
