Ford Expediton 2012

The Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV built by theFord Motor Company. Introduced in 1997 as a replacement to the Ford Bronco, it was previously slotted between the smaller Ford Explorer and the larger Ford Excursion, but as of the 2005 model year, it is Ford's largest and last truck-based, off-road and tow capable SUV. Ford currently offers the standard regular-sized model and the larger EL/Max model, succeeding the Excursion which was discontinued in 2005. It is the second Ford vehicle to use the Expedition name, as it was part of the Explorer Sport's trim models during the 1995 model year. All Expeditions were originally built in Wayne, Michigan. In 2009, Ford shifted its current third generation (2007–present) model production toLouisville, Kentucky as Ford has begun converting the Wayne assembly plant to start building the future production of the Focus.

The Expedition offered up to nine passenger seating in model years before 2007 (with a front bench seat option); 2007–present offer 2 bucket seats in the first row.[2] It is equipped with a V8 engine. It is similar to the Lincoln Navigator, especially for the 2007–present model in Limited or King Ranch high end trims; both of which were introduced for the 2005 model year. With the 2011 model year Ford made changes in the base level department, with the newly designated XL trim a standard and upgrading the XLT to second level and replacing the Eddie Bauer trim that was phased out from the entire Ford vehicle lineup. Over 1,500,000 Expeditions have been sold since its introduction. A specially modified Special Service Vehicle version is also available from Ford for law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and EMS agencies.
Initially, a 2-air bag supplementary restraint system (SRS) with 2-way occupant protection was standard on Expedition. The system included adaptive dual front air bags for front seat occupants. The air bags would adjust deployment force depending on crash severity. Other features also includedSecuriLock with smart key and engine immobilizer, security approach lamps, 4-wheel ABS brakes, side intrusion door beams, post crash fuel pump shut-off and three-point safety belts for all rows of seating with tension and locking retractors.

An optional 4-air bag supplementary restraint system (SRS) with 4-way occupant protection became available for the 2000–2002 model years. Dual front seat side impact air bags were added (bundled with the ultrasonic rear park assist) for upper torso protection. The side impact air bags can be identified by an oval badge reading "Air bag" attached to the outboard front seat bolsters.

2002 model Expeditions introduced the BeltMinder system which would detect when the driver didn’t have his/her safety belt secured. An audible alarm would sound, in the form of a warning chime, until the driver’s safety belt was fastened.

Ford Taurus 2012

The Ford Taurus is an automobile manufactured by the Ford Motor Company in the United States. Originally introduced in the 1986 model year, it has remained in near-continuous production for more than two decades, making it the fourth oldest nameplate that is currently sold in the North American Ford lineup.[1] It has had a more upscaleMercury branded version entitled the Sable (1986–2005; 2008–2009), as well as a performance variant, the Ford Taurus SHO (1989–1999 and 2010–); in addition, it served as the basis for the first-ever front-wheel drive Lincoln Continental(1988–1994). It was a front-wheel drive mid-size carduring its first production run, and it is now a full-size car available in front- or all-wheel drive. It is built on the D3 platform since 2006.

The original Taurus was a milestone design for Ford and the entire American automotive industry, as well as a very influential vehicle that brought many new features and innovations to the marketplace.[2]Since its launch in 1986, Ford had built 7,519,919 Tauruses through the 2007 model year,[3] making it the fifth best selling North American nameplate in Ford's history; only the F-150,[4] Escort,[5] Model T,[6] and Mustang[6] have sold more units. Between 1992 and 1996, the Taurus was the best-selling car in the United States,[7] eventually losing the title to the Toyota Camry in 1997.[8] The 1986–1995 Taurus was built on the DN-5 platform, 1996-1999 Taurus was built on the DN101 platform. The 2000-2007 Tauruses were built on the D186 which was a modified DN 101 platform.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, sales of the Taurus declined as it lost market share to Japanese midsize sedans and as Ford shifted resources towards developing SUVs. It was discontinued in 2006, with production initially ending on October 27, 2006, and 2007 being the last model year.[9]

Ford had decided to replace the Taurus with the fullsize Five Hundred and midsize Fusion sedans, as well as replacing the Taurus wagon with the Freestyle crossover SUV. However, Ford revived the Taurus name during the 2007 Chicago Auto Show a few months later by renaming two new models that had been intended to be updated versions of the Five Hundred and the Freestyle, the "2008 Taurus" and "2008 Taurus X", respectively.[10][11] A new model of Taurus was then released for the 2010 model year. more on wikipedia...

Ford Mustang Bos 302

The Boss 302 Mustang was a Ford Mustang high performance variant produced in 1969 and 1970. It was produced for the Trans Am racing series, while the Mustang Boss 429 which was produced the same years was built around a larger engine. Ford has recently revived the Boss 302 for the 2012 model year.

The Camaro/Mustang rivalry had begun in 1967 with the introduction of the Chevrolet Camaro by General Motors. The Camaro was the largest threat to the lead Ford had in the "pony car" field, a niche of car manufacturing largely created by Ford with the introduction of the Mustang in mid-year 1964. Despite the lead Ford had in this field, the performance of the Mustang did not stack up to that of the Camaro. The small block and big block Chevrolet were more than a match for the 289 and 390 Fords

placed in the Mustang. Ford, in an effort to burnish their "total performance" image introduced the 428 Cobra Jet in mid-year 1968, and in 1969, built one of Detroit's most interesting power plants, the Ford Boss 302 engineV8. The design was a composite engine using the "tunnel port" Windsor block and large Cleveland heads.
The engine was fitted to Mustangs sold to the public to allow Ford to use the new engine to compete in the Trans-Am series.

The Boss 302 Mustang was designed by Larry Shinoda, a former GM employee. He placed the unique reflective "c-stripe" strips on the car, and eliminated the fake rear fender scoops found on the 1969 Mustang model. The distinctive styling included optional black horizontal rear window shades, blackout hood, and was one of the first production cars with a front spoiler and rear deck wing. The name "Boss" came about when Shinoda was asked what project he was working on, he answered "the boss's car" because the project was a secret. When Parnelli Jones won the 1970 Trans-Am title, the name "Boss" was kept.

A total of 7,013 were produced of the better-known 1970 model which was offered for $3,720. It is recognized by the side "hockey" stripes which started along the top of the hood, along with the 1970 grille which replaced the 4 headlights with two vents in the outside position, retaining two headlights within the grille opening. The dual exhaust system was redesigned, along with the competition suspension and a standard Hurst shifter. The intake valves were smaller, and aluminum valve covers replaced the chrome.

Standard were disc brakes on the front, larger sway bars, heavier duty spindles, reinforced shock towers, a four speed manual transmission, and the solid-lifter Boss 302 V8 engine with its free-breathing Cleveland style heads, which had valves larger than most motors over a third larger in displacement. This "G Code" engine was rated at 290 hp (216 kW).[citation needed]

The 1970 car could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 6.9 seconds. The quarter mile (~400 m) took 14.6 seconds at 98 mph (158 km/h)
